SOLID WOOD

Solid wood refers to a logs that has been slice into a thinner thickness in a form of wooden board with a very diverse wood grain pattern. The grain of the wood has its own story in each slice. A special pattern such as tree knots, sapwood (light-colored part close to bark), and tiger spots are the differentiation of the wood which makes it unique to one another. The diverse pattern which originated from the wood has considered as valuable personalities rather than being thrown away, and are utilized as they are in products.

As the solid wood originated from living material, it absorbs the humidity and swells in the summer and releases moisture in the colder season.The process occurs repeatedly, expansion and contraction cause a crack in some furniture. This process will happen repeatedly that can create a patina like in leather. As the shape of the furniture changes, it also treasures your memories.

SUNGKAI

Peronema canescens (Verbenaceae) have cream-colored to light yellow or light brown in the heartwood and not well defined from the sapwood. People often referring sungkai to “White Teak “ in regard to the similarity of the wood grain and density towards teak . Sungkai wood is mostly originated from borneo island , Indonesia.

Though with its beauty, there is an exception within. Sungkai may retain its beauty in indoor usage only, as it will break and moved when it’s exposed to a sudden temperature change or humidity to a direct sunlight and rain.

As the wood has a tight and curvy grain, it may moves and crack easily. Thus, the usage of solid wood sungkai in our production is limited to a certain type of furniture. Tabletop with length more than 2 meters is being produced by using a veneer sungkai in hardwood plywood.

MINDI

Commonly known as Chinaberry Trea or White Cedar  is a species of tree that is native in Indonesia. 

The tree has a distinctive brown to red color as well as large grain with little amount of knots . This character makes mindi one of the most versatile wood for making a fine furniture . 


Leather

LEATHER

Leather is a natural product made from cowhide which has a natural effect like wood. Each piece came with imperfection such as insect bites, scratches, stain, and wrinkle which caused by nature. In our production, we try to minimize the effect of nature that creates imperfect looks to our final products. Natural marks that came from aniline leather will being dye instead of painted, as the natural mark will enhance the characteristic of each product that being produce by ELM

CANVAS

Type of fabric that being used for a wide range of purposes like painting canvas, tent, bags, and military uniform. Canvas is divided into 11 categories upon its thickness, the most suitable one is No 8 which being used for sofa due to its softness and durability. The worn out looks will come naturally after the first wash, which shows that the fabric is adapted to the user’s body. This process will enhance the looks since the threads and discoloration effects.

Finishing

LACQUER

Nitro Cellulose Lacquer is the thinnest layer of finishing substance that available in our production. The thin coating makes it easy to repair in the future.
Lacquer consider less durable to scratches and heat . The usage of additional layers such as coaster or saucer are advisable because the color of the furniture the surface will easily turn white if it contacts directly with a hot surface

Daily cleaning by soft cotton cloth is recommended for wiping off the dust. Additional substance like mild detergent is also a good choice for the cleaning process

URETHANE

Resin based substance, create an additional layer which resistant to scratches and heat. Urethane paint is the choice of coating for furniture which are being used heavily, like restaurant and home with children as it prone to dirt , scratches ,and heat. The after finish effect that creates clear finish and wet look make the furniture has an expensive look over the other finishing type. Moreover, it does not require extensive maintenance. On the case of the paint peel off, a special technique is necessary to be performed on the specific area only.

OIL PAINTING

Oil painting is known to be the most environmentally friendly type of finishing, as it not adding any layer of coating after being applied to the furniture. The grain is being exposed in its natural way, yet wood's pores are still left open after the finishing process. Nonetheless, oil painting resulted on least resistances towards water as well as scratches compare to other finishing methods.

Furniture placement play an important role in keeping the moisture of the finishing. Direct sunlight may harm the appearance of the furniture. We recommend overcoating the furniture periodically to retain its beauty.
